Przemysław Bąbel

    Prof. Przemysław Bąbel, PhD, is a full professor of psychology and head of the Pain Research Group at the Institute of Psychology, Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland. He is among
    the world’s most influential scientists, having twice been included in the Stanford University and Elsevier ranking of the top 2% most cited researchers (2023, 2025). He has authored
    more than 150 scientific papers and over 100 popular-science publications. His research focuses on the learning mechanisms underlying placebo effects, memory of pain, and psychological factors influencing pain perception. His work has been widely featured in international media, including The New York Times, New York Magazine, CBS News, and The Sunday Times. Prof. Bąbel currently serves as Vice-Dean for Research at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Jagiellonian University, President of the Polish Society for Behavioral Psychology, a member of the Steering Committee of the Society for Interdisciplinary Placebo Studies, and a member of the Committee on Psychological Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences. In recognition of his achievements, he was elected a Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science in 2019 for his sustained and outstanding contributions to the science of psychology.
